THE 2025 ACADEMIC YEAR HAS STARTED AT THE AUSKOLA / AUCKLAND HUNGARIAN SCHOOL

On the first day of the 2025 school year, we made the most of the glorious weather by meeting the students at Auckland Domain. After introductions, we kicked off the day with some games popular among children in Hungary. The colour shark and canoe-turmix-pancake games were particularly well-received, with everyone joining in enthusiastically.

Following our lively warm-up, we headed to the Auckland War Memorial Museum. The older students explored the war history exhibition, gaining insight into conflicts and battles, while the younger ones delved into the nature exhibition, learning about wildlife in an exciting, hands-on manner. To reinforce their newfound knowledge, we challenged the pupils with a quiz after their museum tour.

In the afternoon, we took a leisurely stroll to the Wintergarden, where we perused the current exhibition and spiced things up with another quiz. The children dashed about the garden with great gusto, hunting for answers to the questions. We rounded off the day with more games, and everyone headed home in high spirits.

The Auckland Hungarian School plays a prominent role in the life of the local Hungarian community. With more and more children attending, not only the language is preserved, but also Hungarian culture, traditions and identity. And the strength and cohesion of the community ensures that future generations will proudly cherish their Hungarianness. It is a source of pride and joy to see so many families committed to ensuring that their children learn Hungarian and learn about their cultural heritage.
